CONTACT YOUR CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVE TODAY
The FCC recently introduced the National Broadband Plan, which, if passed in its
current form, would have a negative impact on telecommunications cooperatives in
rural America – including Endeavor Communications and our members. The National
Broadband Plan (NBP), would put a limit on the internet speeds rural
telecommunications companies could offer their customers. Specifically, it would
set a broadband speed goal of ONLY 4 Mbps for
telecommunications customers living in rural areas. Endeavor currently offers 6
Mbps to our fiber customers with future plans to roll out 15 Mbps.
The NBP is intended to make broadband internet access universally available.
Reliable high-speed broadband can improve the lives of all consumers, but access
is especially important for those in rural America. While we applaud the
government’s efforts to make broadband a reality for all Americans, the NBP
would make rural Americans second-class citizens because it would establish a
speed goal that is twenty-five times slower than for urban areas. We feel that
rural communities should enjoy the same broadband services as our larger towns
and cities.
Don’t let the FCC keep rural communities on the slow side of the broadband
digital divide. Contact your congressional representatives and urge them to
support regulatory action that ensures equal access to broadband services for
all Americans.
